I don’t wish death on anyone, including Mr. Kirk, and I refuse to sink to the same level of dehumanization that has been used against queer people for years. My piece was about acknowledging my honest reaction, then rejecting it, because the cycle of hate is exactly what is killing this country.

As for Charlie Kirk, your claim is simply false. Kirk spent his career using his national platform to demonize LGBTQ+ people, especially trans youth. He regularly described allies of queer people as “groomers,” called gender-affirming care “child abuse,” argued for criminalizing providers, and referred to LGBTQ-inclusive education as “sexual anarchy.” He said, “transgenderism and gender ‘fluidity’ are lies that hurt people and abuse kids,” and publicly celebrated policies that allow open discrimination against LGBTQ+ people. In 2024, he even cited a Biblical verse calling for the death of gay men as “God’s perfect law”. Telling queer people he “wouldn’t condone discrimination” while actively inciting it is pure gaslighting.

I condemn political violence of all kinds, regardless of the identity of the perpetrator or the target. That includes violence committed by anyone, even if they share my identity. There is no justification for it. But do not twist that into a defense of those who use media and policy to call for stripping away the humanity and rights of queer people.

If you want to talk about threats and division, look in the mirror. The record of Republican leaders, including Kirk, shows relentless attacks on anyone who dares to live outside the “acceptable” straight, cis, conservative mold. That is not up for debate; it is on video, in their own words, and in the policies they champion.

I am fighting for a world where no one is demonized, targeted, or erased for who they are—something Kirk spent his life actively working against. If you truly care about ending the cycle of hate and violence, start by condemning the rhetoric that fuels it.
