The Pink Triangle: A Reminder of Our Past—and the Battle We Still Face
In Nazi concentration camps, a pink triangle meant one thing—you were a target.
A target for guards, who were given permission to unleash unimaginable cruelty.
The triangle marked you as less than human, as someone who didn’t deserve to live.
But even after the camps were liberated, the nightmare didn’t end.
While others were freed, men with pink triangles—gay men, bisexual men, and transgender women—were sent back to prison. Their crime?
Existing.
The Nazi law that criminalized them remained in place until 1994. 1994—just 31 years ago.
The Holocaust didn’t end for everyone in 1945.
A Modern Symbol of Exclusion
And now, in 2025, Donald Trump—convicted rapist, insurrectionist—posted a pink triangle on his platform, Truth Social.
But this time, it had a “Not Allowed” symbol over it—a circle with a line through it.
This is not subtle. This is not a mistake. This is a message.
A modern symbol meant to signify exclusion, prohibition, and the continued marginalization of LGBTQ+ people.
What the Symbol Really Means
When you see that pink triangle with the “Not Allowed” symbol, understand what it represents.
It’s an attempt to erase our community, to silence us, and to reinforce the idea that we do not belong.
In Trump’s world, this symbol is a reminder that for some, our existence is still seen as unacceptable.
A Call to Action
We know what happens when hate takes root. We know what’s at stake.
And we will not go quietly.
Stay vigilant. Stay loud. Stay proud. Because history is repeating itself—but this time, we are fighting back.
We’ve come too far, built too much, and loved too deeply to let hate win again.
Silence is complicity. Action is survival.
So speak up. Show up. And let them know: We are still here. We are still fighting. And we are never going back.
